Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Healthcare Integration Engineer to work part-time on our mission-critical healthcare integration projects. This role is perfect for seasoned healthcare technology professionals who want to contribute their expertise while maintaining flexibility and work-life balance.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement integrations with healthcare systems (EHR, EMR, Practice Management)
- Develop and maintain HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare data standard implementations
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security across all integrations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to understand their workflow requirements
- Build and maintain API gateways and data transformation layers
- Provide technical support during scheduled hours
- Mentor junior team members on healthcare integration best practices
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare technology and integrations
- Deep understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)
- Experience with EHR/EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, AllScripts, etc.)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations
- Proficiency in integration technologies and APIs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare industry certifications (RHIA, CHPS, or similar)
- Experience with cloud healthcare platforms (AWS HealthLake, Azure Healthcare APIs)
- Knowledge of clinical workflows and terminology
- Experience with data mapping and transformation tools
- Previous part-time or consulting experience in healthcare
Schedule & Commitment
- Hours: 25-30 hours per week
- Core Hours: Some overlap with team for collaboration and meetings
- Flexibility: Choose your schedule within business hour constraints
- Remote Work: Fully remote with occasional virtual client meetings
- On-call: Minimal on-call requirements for critical integrations
